MY WORK Experience

Virtualizing Environments

I am very enthusiastic about virtual environments, currently qualified as a VMware certified advanced professional -  Datacenter Virtualization 2020 as well as a vSAN specialist. I have a lot of knowledge and experience with Hyper-V, including failover clustering and S2D. I have implemented VMware environments from single to a couple of hosts in a cluster to stretched vSAN implementatons as well as use of technologies like VMware Site recovery manager and vSphere replication to a DR site. Hyper converged is the technology of the future and I really enjoy the VMware vSAN and Microsoft S2D technologies and have worked quite a lot with both

Enterprise Storage Solutions

Name the topology, name the technology and name the vendor, I have probably worked on it. (Anything past 2009 that is). I have a lot of experience on SAN, NAS and DAS implementations, used across HPE, NetApp, Dell EMC and Pure to name a few. This is seen as the “old” way of doing things, but something that has stood the test of time, all flash arrays on 32 GB SAN has removed the performance bottleneck slower SATA arrays had, and recently the capacity of SSD drives has also taken away the need to buy slower SATA for bigger capacity in a tiered storage configuration. I have also connected these to a large number of server hardware vendors, be it blade servers from HPE or Cisco, to good old physical servers from HPE, Cisco, Dell and more.

Backup Solutions

Backups are probably the most underrated part of any solution, you trust they are there and working when you need them, and mostly they are ready to go. There are sadly often times when companies and managers trust that backups are running as they should, but they don’t. I have seen this scenario a lot and have experienced DR situations which were tested years prior and never really relooked or updated. You don’t need it, until you do. I am a certified architect on Veeam technologies as well as experienced in Data protector and Netbackup. I have implemented many simple backup to type and complex solutions with data replication and backup to the cloud successfully

Below a number a technologies I have experience in and my personal view of my competency in that technology.

Personal view of competency
Server room in datacenter. Hosting services.

I am currently employed as an Enterprise Consultant, previously I was a Team Leader in charge of various aspects of a nationwide support contract. Through these two fields I have gained a huge amount of experience on enterprise systems, different hypervisor technologies, operating system capabilities as well as analyzing current infrastructure and planning for future growth, expansion and initiative ideas of changing the normal day to day operations. I understand the importance of staying up-to-date on industry trends and technologies, and make it my priority to ensure a company runs smoothly and the proper procedures, protocols and staff are in place.

I have also made it a strong objective to attend and research numerous and relevant vendor training and certification paths, this assists with my development as a professional and also adds to my value to the company. I also push strongly to adhere to all SLA objectives expected of myself and the team.

I am a dedicated individual and I work very well in a team and managing budgets and projects to successfully completion.
